The MD / Addictionlogist ​provides prevention, screening, intervention, and treatment for patients with a chemical dependency. He/she prepares and reviews case histories and obtains and evaluates data through interview techniques. He/she can also can recognize and treat the psychological and physical complications of addiction. 

Additional duties include:
  • Conducting Evaluations
  • Performs physical examinations, provides preventive health services and conducts follow up appointments for patients
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients psychiatric & health care needs.
  • Records physical findings, formulates plans and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
  • Documents the delivery of care in the individual's electronic medical record.
  • Discusses cases with clinical & nursing staff in order to prepare comprehensive patient care plans
  • Participates in treatment team meetings
  • Orders, schedules and/or performs laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
  • Prescribes and monitors medication

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • Board Certified Psychiatrist or Board Certified Addictionologist (ABAM)
  • Experience working within a treatment facility
