Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will perform evaluations, consultations and brief treatment for children and adolescent patients. He/She will assume initial responsibility for the prescribing, monitoring and stabilization for children and adolescent patients who have been prescribed medications.  He/She will conduct medication follow-up for childrend and adolescent patients that have been evaluated and are in need of ongoing care. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with Behavioral Health Director to implement model of service integration, policies and procedures to support integrated behavioral health services;
  • Work with EMR Analyst and medical leadership to improve documentation of behavioral health visits within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), GE Centricity;
  • Offer consultation/supervision as needed to medical providers and integrated care programs.
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations, consultations and brief treatment for patients
  • Assume initial responsibility for the prescribing, monitoring and stabilization for patients who have been prescribed medications;
  • Conduct medication follow-up for patients that have been evaluated and are in need of ongoing care;
  • Provide consultation to medical providers on psychotropic medication management;
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings in Primary Care/Behavioral Health integrated care model;
  • Participate in quarterly training for medical and behavioral health staff on and psychotropic medication management for diagnoses commonly treated in a primary care setting;
  • Work in conjunction with Psychiatrist on patient medication management and the provision of staff training;
  • Participate in supervision with consulting psychiatrist
Minimum Basic Knowledge:
1. Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
2. PA License
3. DEA License

Requirements and Qualifications:
1. Interest/experience in Addiction Medicine working with children and adolescents.
2. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team and providers in a primary care setting.
3. Strong commitment to providing treatment that is compassionate and competent.
4. Ability to provide services for patients depending on their individual needs and preferences.
